DEFENDING Premier Soccer League champions Chicken Inn and Highlanders drew one-all in a friendly match played at Luveve stadium yesterday.
However, Bosso might live to rue playing the match as their efforts to conjure some magic in their fight to win the title is likely to suffer a dent after their speedy and lively forward, Grabriel Nyoni appeared to have taken a serious knock after colliding with Chicken Inn left back, Divine Lunga.
Bosso who are in third position are still in with a chance of wrestling for the championship if they win their last two matches and pray that the two teams above them, Caps United and FC Platinum, fair badly in their encounters.
There was nothing much to write about, save only for the brilliance of the evergreen Gamecocks midfield dynamo’s surging runs in the middle of the park Clemence Matawu and Lunga’s overlapping runs and dribbling skills and deft touches and ball trickery by Bosso’s own version of former Manchester United’s midfielder Paul Scholes in the form of Simon Munawa.
Bosso found the opener in 77th minute following a surge by outstanding defender Peter Muduhwa whose presence inside the opposition’s box gave the Gamecocks defence line a torrid time and during the mayhem a timid clearance fell in front of substitute Brian Banda who struck a ferocious shot which took an awkward bounce and sailed over diving substitute goalkeeper Pride Zendera.
Chicken Inn equalised six minutes later against the run of play after another substitute, Moses Demera, who had replaced Darryl Nyandoro outpaced the Bosso backline to beat a bad exposed Matutu after a defence splitting pass by another substitute Guide Goddard.
