WITH coach Erol Akbay back at work after his break in his native Netherlands, Highlanders head off to South Africa tomorrow for a training camp ahead of the 2017 Premier Soccer League season.

Bosso will be based in Polokwane for the better part of the tour where they are expected to engage in friendly and practice matches against Baroka, Polokwane City and Black Leopards. If all goes according to plan, Highlanders will then proceed to Bloemfontein where they could play against Bloemfontein Celtic.

Bosso secretary-general Emmett Ndlovu confirmed that the team is leaving for the neighbouring country tomorrow with the plan to take on tour the 24 players available for Highlanders.

“The team leaves on Monday for Polokwane and Bloemfontein, part of the itinerary depends on what happens if they get there, the first stop is Polokwane, there are also plans to go to Bloemfontein. Depending on the financial ability of the club, we might take all the players. Ideally we want to take all the 24 players who are available to travel,’’ said Ndlovu.

Highlanders started their pre-season training three weeks ago with goalkeepers mentor Cosmas “Tsano” Zulu in charge of the training sessions in the absence of Akbay and his assistant Amini Soma-Phiri who was attending a Confederation of African Football A licence coaching course in Harare.

Soma-Phiri joined the team last Monday while Akbay only arrived on Friday.
