DESPITE being miles behind in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League championship race, Dynamos could do Caps United and Highlanders a massive favour if they manage to disturb FC Platinum’s charge when the two teams clash at Mandava Stadium in Zvishavane on Saturday.

Any result that is not a win for Norman Mapeza’s side will allow Caps United and Highlanders to close the gap. In fact, any slip up by Kugona Kunenge Kudada on Saturday could see them lose their top spot to Makepeke who play against How Mine at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Caps United, with 47 points trail FC Platinum who have 48 by just a point. This means that if Dynamos walk away with any point or points from Mandava on Saturday then Caps United have a chance to go on top if they beat How Mine the following day.

Highlanders, the only team in the top three to pick up maximum points during the midweek fixtures with a 1-0 victory over Harare City at Rufaro on Thursday also stand to benefit if Dynamos win or hold FC Platinum to a draw. Bosso are behind FC Caps United by three points and FC Platinum by four. Should Dynamos pick up maximum points at Mandava, then Bosso will reduce the deficit with the log leaders to just a point if they beat Ngezi Platinum on Sunday.

Dynamos were beaten 1-0 by FC Platinum at Rufaro in May in what was Lloyd Mutasa’s debut as caretaker coach, a result which had their fans turning violent and attacking the police. It is that result which should inspired DeMbare to seek revenge and derail Pure Platinum Play’s title aspirations.

Caps United earned two points from FC Platinum with 0-0 draws home and away while Highlanders, who make the trip to Zvishavane during the penultimate round of fixtures, were beaten 2-1 at Barbourfields at the beginning of the season.
