HIGHLANDERS life member, Bheka “Mahii” Sibanda believes now is the time to start working for Bosso from within the club’s structures having been making contributions as a member.

Sibanda said he will be contesting for the post of committee member in the club’s upcoming elections scheduled for next year.

The post is held by Wisdom Mabhena, who has served the mandatory two consecutive terms and is no longer eligible to recontest.

Mahii as Sibanda is popularly known in Bosso circles, said after making contributions to the club as a member he felt it was time to assist from within where he believes he can add greater value to Bosso.

He is likely to face a challenge from Mgcini Mafu, who has declared his intention to contest for the position.

Sibanda said his love for the club drove him to assist wherever he could and believes his acts should be testimony enough that he is the right candidate for the post.

“I think the executive has done well and they opened up and worked with club members and supporters to solve the various challenges affecting the club.

“I can’t say I will go in and do this and that at Bosso but what I can say is I will continue putting in the efforts that I have been doing.

“I am committed to working with the executive, the board and other stakeholders, in solving the various challenges facing the club,” he said.

Mahii said juniors are a critical area he feels should be given more attention to ensure Bosso keeps churning out stars.

He said it was sad to see junior coaches desert the club in droves recently and expressed hope to put his energies in alleviating the plight of the lower sides.

“The executive has done well and I think financial challenges has seen most of the resources being channeled to the senior team, whose exploits are the most visible to the supporters, but I believe with the right energies being put at the right places we can fully sustain the juniors and return to being the team of choice for grooming up and coming stars.

“I believe in working together, the fans, members, and administration in lifting the team high. If we put our heads together, nothing is impossible,” said Sibanda.

He said he has been ensuring the club’s ball boys get refreshments during matches while he has also assisted the club meet part of its preseason costs.

Sibanda also gave the club $13 000 which he hopes will alleviate the challenges Bosso was facing towards meeting their salary obligations towards the juniors’ technical department. He recently donated an assortment of groceries to the club’s three-member juniors’ technical team.

The donation was presented to Bosso 90 coach Melusi “Mabaleka” Sibanda as well as managers Marko Dube and Smart Moyo.
