MILTON High School got a massive boost ahead of their departure today for the annual Dairibord Schools Rugby Festival at Prince Edward School in Harare when a former pupil Shasha Gomez donated a full playing kit.

Gomez made the donation through his company Consha Enterprises which last month also gave rugby equipment to the school.

The uniforms were unveiled at Milton last Friday at an event where Zimbabwe Rugby Union vice-president Martin Shone was the guest of honour. Shone challenged the players to wear the kit that has been donated to them with pride as well as to make sure that they play well in Harare.

“You are going to Dairibord Rugby Festival, you are not going there to make up the numbers, you are going there to participate and dominate,’’ Shone said.

At Dairibord, Milton, captained by flyhalf Hilton Gwekwerere are playing against St George’s College on Tuesday, St Ignatius on Thursday and before they take on St John’s College on the last day of the fiesta on Saturday. Two of their matches are Jubilee Field while one is on the Avenues ground.

Milton, popularly known as the Elephants are under the tutelage of former Zimbabwe international rugby player Jafet Ndebele who represented the country at the highest level in sevens and fifteens.

With the sponsorship they got from Gomez, the hard work that is being done by Ndebele with the assistance of teacher in charge of rugby at the school Lovemore Mangwiro, sports director Tendai Machawira and headmaster Similo Ncube there is great excitement with a lot of optimism that the boys will do well when the season starts at the beginning of the second term.
