BULAWAYO top ranked Table Tennis player Ashley Ndlovu says she is ready for the Zimbabwe Open Table Tennis tournament that will be held in Norton.

The tournament is the biggest event in the calendar for the table tennis in the land which allows participants to rise in the national rankings, while testing and sharpening their skills against seasoned opponents.

Botswana, Malawi and Zambia are expected to participate in the event pencilled in for November 25 to 26 at Norton 1 Primary School. Princess Ncube, Diana Ndlovu and Pauline Dube are some of the players from Bulawayo that will partake at the tournament.

Speaking to Sunday Life Sport Ndlovu said she was mentally and physical prepared for the tournament.

“I am more than ready for this year’s Zim Open table tennis tournament as I have been working hard in refining my skills. We all have been training very hard as a team in preparation for the event,” she said.

Ndlovu, who is the 2017 Midlands State University (MSU) Open Table Tennis tournament champion, is confident of pulling a great result from the tournament.

“I am going to give my best performance for every game and I am positive I will bring a great result, even though it will not be easy competing against seasoned opponents,” she said.

The chairman for Table Tennis in Bulawayo, Luba Ndlovu, said the local athletes were prepared for the tournament.

“I am hopeful that the women table tennis players from Bulawayo will maintain their position as the dominant force in the sporting code, since they have been showing commitment in their preparation stages,” said Ndlovu in an interview.

The tournament will also serve as a national team selection process for both men and women sides that will represent the country in the Zone 5 Table Tennis competitions to be held in Botswana next month.
