ONE of Bulawayo’s upcoming gospel ensembles One Spirit last Sunday held their first concert dubbed Elgiboh — The mighty God that attracted a host of prominent musicians from the city.

The concert was held at Harvest House International Fife Street branch auditorium with various prominent artistes such as Abigal Mwembe, Brian Bangura, Jacob and Carlos Jiri.

Nigel Nyamwenda, founder of the group said the success of their debut concert was a milestone to their journey in the music industry.

“I would like to thank all the people who kept pushing us to do this event because on our own we could not have done it. It is all thanks to God, the artistes who took their time to come and support us and also Pastor Ndlovu for granting us an opportunity to minister as young people. It is also a privilege and a stepping stone for us to have shared the stage with Carlos Jiri, Abigal and Brian as they have been in this journey for a much longer time and we are following in their steps,” he said.

The event also aimed at reaching out to both the young and old to come to Christ.

Speaking to Sunday Life, Abigal Mwembe said she was pleased to be part of such an event, seeing young people taking a step to work and minister to people.

“This is something good for our city as Bulawayo has been said to be dead and I think through these young upcoming artistes taking a step into the music industry is going to change how people have often viewed Bulawayo. The fact that it’s a young group full of energy and passion for music is great,” she said. -@kayskudzai
