Zanu PF Central Committee member Cde Justice Zvandasara has come under fire for allegedly fraudulently purchasing land earmarked for the construction of party offices and leasing it to a local bank without the knowledge nor consent of the party.

Cde Justice Zvandasara has since been reported to police for allegedly conniving with four others to fraudulently buy and lease 8000 square metres that had been set aside for party offices construction to a local bank.

According to police documents seen by this reporter it is alleged that Cde Zvandasara fraudulently purchased stand lot 55 Pomona Estate also known as 8 Campbell Road, Pomona under a private company Pebney (Pvt) Ltd from the City of Harare.

It is alleged that Cde Zvandasara together with his accomplices Lameck Taruhwa, George Mashavave and two others purchased the property that was being used as district party offices by Zanu PF Borrowdale District, Harare North Constituency since 1990 and the party had a right of first refusal over the property.

Cde Zvandasara allegedly went on to lease the land in question to CBZ bank at a value of US$ 26 000 into an account holder Fungai Chiboora which had been nominated by Zvandasara.

The case was reported under CR 503/07/2020 – CCD DR55/07 where Cde Zvandasara and his accomplices are facing fraud charges.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the matter but could not shed more light.

“I can confirm that the matter was reported to the police. We are still carrying out investigations. Since the matter is still under investigations we will avail more information once the investigations are complete. We are still on the ground doing the necessary enquiries,” he said.

Zanu- PF Harare provincial chairperson Cde Oliver Chidawo said the matter was still to be formally brought to his attention.

“The matter is still being handled at district level. As a province we are still to receive a report pertaining to the matter. I would rather give a response once I have been formally informed over the matter and we will also handle it from there,” he said.
