Restoration of His presence The Bible

The Sunday News

Sunday Sermon, with Apostle Chisale
Greetings beloved nation in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. In the book of John 2:1-10 we see a marriage in Cana of Galilee and the mother of Jesus was there, Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the marriage.

The marriage that I want to talk about today will represent many things. It will stand for celebration, it can stand for churches and your personal revival. The bible tells us that Jesus was invited to this celebration and the wine got finished.

The wine in the scripture represents the presence of God. My question is why at this marriage they never budgeted enough wine for the guests because the bible tells us that the wine got finished. One thing that is amazing is that we are not told that the people were complaining, the celebration still continued in spite of the wine being finished.

It is as if people were seeing it as normal and maybe some of the people were still dancing. It’s the same in churches or in individuals’ lives, the wine is finished and people still continue with their lives. Some people are busy buying suits, some going to church, some praying in tongues, some paying tithes and offerings and some listening to messages, but meanwhile there is no wine.

I would have thought people at this wedding would be complaining or even boycotting because wine is the main feature that gives energy, laughter and joy. But at this wedding it looks like everything was normal. It’s like the season that we are living in, people are taking things as if they are normal, even though there is no presence of God. Churches are being built and church members are increasing, but no presence of God.

The presence has long gone from our lives and from our churches. Remember at this celebration there were also rulers, the governor of the feast was also invited. Meaning that the top people were also invited. It is so painful when we come together to worship or as individuals and we don’t discern that the presence of God has departed. But thank God that at this wedding servants were also invited. These are the people who discovered that the wine was finished.

They approached the mother of Jesus Mary and told her about the wine. The reason why they approached Mary is probably because Jesus was seated somewhere in a corner not being recognised.

They had to ask Mary to speak to Jesus for them. When we hear Jesus saying to her ‘woman what have I to do with thee’, this is the sound of a man that has been put aside. He was sidelined. This is what is happening in our lives where we side-line the man that has got all the answers in the world.

May God give us men and women who have got the heart of these servants, such an eye and ears that are so sensitive that saw that at this wedding the wine was finished and they had to look for Jesus.

It will take men or women that have the heart of a servant, a heart that is humbled and that acknowledges that the wine is finished even though people are still dancing. The reality is there was no wine, no presence of God. Mary says to the servants ‘whatsoever he says do it’.

In this story Mary represents the Holy Spirit. In this season that we are living in, in our churches and in our circles as individuals, God is raising a generation that has the heart of these servants. A generation that recognises that yes the man of God is preaching, yes the Praise and Worship is singing, yes people are giving tithes and offerings, but mmm no, there is no presence of God, it has departed. People push Jesus aside, but they sing about him, they preach about him.

They have shoved him aside into the corner and not put him at the centre of everything. This is a generation of prayer, a generation that is not satisfied with a celebration that has no wine.

The bible says in John 2:6, “And there were set there six water pots of stone”. Six is the number of men. Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the water pots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.” The water in this scripture represents the word because for us as a church or as individuals there has to be the filling of the word in our lives so that the word will attract the presence of God. Jesus commanded that the water pots must be filled to the brim.

Meaning there is a cry in heaven that we have seen many men rising up claiming to be called, whilst they are not filled with the word.

That’s why there are a lot of scandals that we hear about. The bible says in the book of Ephesians 5:26, ‘the washing of water by the word’. May the church be filled with His word. And the bible says after they had filled the pots with water to the brim and Jesus said, “Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.” He called the bridegroom because after he tasted the wine, it was sweet.

The presence of God has to return in our personal lives, in our churches and in our marriages, so that everyone who enters may feel the sweetness. God is calling for restoration of His presence.

May we be restored so that everyone will bow down at the feet of Jesus.

Moses refused to go without the presence of God. It’s surprising because Moses was carrying the rod that was performing miracles, yet he still refuses to go without the presence of God. The presence of God will cause the highest and lowest person to come to the feet of Jesus. May God restore His presence in the body of Christ.

I would like to invite you to receive Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour, by believing in your heart and confessing with your mouth that he is your Lord and Saviour, and you shall be saved. May God bless you all and this beautiful nation of Zimbabwe. Amen.
