THE Zimbabwe National Army Ordinance Corps have been urged to take a leading role in spreading the gospel of the country’s economic blue print-Zimbabwe Agenda for Sustainable Socio-Economic Transformation- as the plan to the country’s economic future.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the ZNA Ordinance Corps 24th anniversary celebrations at Imbizo Barracks in Bulawayo yesterday, Army Chief of Staff (logistics) Major General Douglas Nyikayaramba said Corps must carry the shield in the fight for the economic prosperity of the country.
“It is important for every one of you to carry the gospel of the economic blueprint to every corner of the country. The successful implementation of Zim Asset  will lead to the robust recovery of the economy,” he said.

Ordinance Corps are a division of the ZNA that specialise in logistics such as the sourcing, distribution and issuing of resources which range from clothing, general stores, spare parts and so forth.

Maj Gen Nyikayaramba added that the army was cognisant of the work of the corps and hence they were allocated the largest portion of the army budget.

“It is imperative for all of you to realise the great and indispensable responsibilities bestowed upon you so that you execute your duties as per the Corps’ values which are fairness, efficiency, accountability and transparency,” he told the units which gathered at Imbizo barracks for the celebrations.

The celebrations started on Monday last week and ended yesterday. The annual celebrations last took place in 2012 in Mutare. The corps units competed in various sporting activities which included soccer, volleyball, darts, tug-of-war, netball and pool.
