They say follow your heart, chase your dreams or dream big. Some tell us anything is possible and that the impossible is possible. They also told us to be strong.

However, some of us have followed our hearts and our hearts led us astray. Our hearts made us do some of the things that our minds disapproved of but then we followed our hearts like they told us to.

When we reached a dead end there was no turning back. We tried to be strong but then tears flowed.
We were caught in between a rock and a hard place then our hearts became silent. When this happened, we blamed no one but ourselves.

Our hearts have led us into loving some people only to realise the love we receive back is not even real. They promised but then promises were broken.

It’s the love that we have given away that has gone in vain because of our hearts.

Our hearts told us that we’re multi-talented and we listened but great disappointment struck us when one of us made it last in the race of life.

Our hearts also whispered to our ears, they told us our dream jobs.
Some of us didn’t even get to taste how our dream jobs feel like. It’s the energy that we have invested trying to follow our hearts that has gone in vain. Some of us now fear to follow our hearts.

They have led us into some deep pits that we can’t get out of.
We’ve been broken, laughed at and disappointed because of our hearts. It’s the time we’ve spent that has gone in vain all in the name of following our hearts.

This made us realise that in this world, it’s not everything we do that need rewards, outcomes and appreciation.
Sometimes we just do the things we do and it goes in vain.

We then decided not to only follow our hearts but to listen to the voice in our minds.

It’s a voice many of us ignore not realising that it equally plays an important role like the heart.

We then came up with the conclusion that in this world, all is vanity.
