Sunday sermon, with Apostle Chisale
Greetings beloved nation in the name of Jesus Christ. God ordained the times and the seasons and expects us to understand them in order to know what we are supposed to be doing in every season. As nations of the world and as individuals we are in a difficult season where there is a lot of uncertainty as a result of the pandemic we are facing.
A lot of restrictions have been put in place in many nations and the normal way of life of people has been disrupted.
It is important that as believers we have an understanding of the times and seasons and be spiritually alert so that we are able to navigate our way through such seasons. In Daniel 2:21 the Bible says that “God changes the times and the seasons . . .” If God ordained the times and the seasons and changes them, then it is necessary for us to find out from Him what season we are living in and what we ought to be doing in every season. We need to understand that this has nothing to do with the natural seasons of summer, autumn, winter and spring but has everything to do with spiritual seasons in a God pre-determined calendar for every individual and for the body of Christ.
In 1 Chronicles 12:32 the Bible says that, “the sons of Issachar had understanding of the times to know what Israel ought to do.” This verse brings more light into the subject of understanding the times and the season. Here, among all the tribes in Israel, only one tribe was commended for understanding the times and seasons and knew what Israel ought to do.
Meaning that without a deep understanding of the times and seasons, we will not know what we are supposed to do as individuals and as the body of Christ. In order for us to understand the times and season as believers we have to align and position ourselves properly in order for us to hear the instructions from God as He tells us the way we should go as individuals and as the body of Christ. Meaning we have to discern things and be spiritually alert. Spiritual discernment cannot be attained through education.
For us to develop spiritual discernment we have to know the authentic so well such that when something false appears, we are able to recognise it. For instance when bank tellers are trained to recognise the difference between genuine and counterfeit money, they are trained to know genuine money first and foremost.
The Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 10-12 that the spirit searches all things even the deep things of God, no one knows the thoughts of God except the spirit of God, so meaning the Holy Spirit enables us to discern. In the book of Daniel the Bible tells us about Daniel who was a man who was very prayerful and had a close relationship with God and because of that he was shown the secrets of the end times. In the season we are living in God is bringing order in His church.
He wants to reposition us in preparation for the second coming of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. There has been a lot of compromise in the body of Christ where we hear of many scandals taking place within the churches, a lot of false prophets who have come, fighting for power and positions within the churches, sexual immorality and rebellion.
In a move that is going to usher in a great revival, God is bringing order to the body of Christ. God is cleansing the church of all the filth because He is coming for a spotless bride. So this means we have to be spiritually sensitive and have a deeper understanding of the times and seasons so that we are not caught unaware like the five foolish virgins in the book of Matthew 25.
There is a call for repentance and holiness within the body of Christ so that revival can be ushered in, so we need to take heed of the instructions from God to repent and for holiness. God is a god of secrets and in order for us to understand the times and seasons we have to develop an intimate relationship with Him so that He can reveal to us His hidden secrets.
The Bible tells us in Deuteronomy 29:29 that, “The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.” So meaning there are certain secrets that God wants to reveal to us. God is looking for people He can reveal His secrets to but He can only do that to those who draw near to Him, those who press after Him.
Even in our daily lives, when a friend wants to tell you their secret, they will not stand on a roof top or in the middle of the street full of people and shout their secret. They will draw close and whisper it into your ears. It is the same with God, we have to draw closer to Him in order for Him to reveal His secrets and in order to understand the times and seasons so that we align ourselves and position ourselves properly.
When God wants to usher us into a new season of our lives our part is to position ourselves so that we allow the Holy Spirit to lead and direct our paths as the Bible says in Psalms 37:23 that “the steps of the righteous are ordered by the Lord” I would like to invite you to receive Jesus as your personal Lord and saviour, by believing in your heart and confessing with your mouth that he is your Lord and Saviour, and you shall be saved.
