AN unsung Victoria Falls based hip-hop /kwaito singer has released a 15-song singles collection which he says is going to put the resort town on the music map.

Owen Ndlovu, better known as Criss Ozzy, says his ambition is to take the music industry in the resort town to a competitive level.

“Youths love contemporary music and that’s why I chose to fuse hip-hop and kwaito. I grew up listening to kwaito and I am inspired by Teargas of South Africa. I want to appeal to my fans and people of Victoria Falls to support me so that we together take our music to a higher level in the resort town,” said Criss Ozzy.

The 29-year-old upcoming artiste said he started music in 2001 when he was with a now defunct group Vibe and Set and they recorded an album Mina Nawe in 2002.

The group disbanded and he was to record an afro-pop album called Dali Wami with another group- MeJozy in 2010.

“When the group disbanded I went to Harare where I started working on my singles,” said Criss Ozzy.

The 14 singles were recorded in Harare (Afro Hits studios) and Victoria Falls at Lithium Records and Detain Records.

His manager Prince Moyo said Cris Ozzy wasn’t attached to any particular recording company to avoid being tied down.

He said they have a number of shows lined up as a way of marketing the collection.

“We are planning shows so that we market the product. We are also trying to market the collection as much as we can on radio and social media and as we speak we have managed to have some of the songs Magitare, Siyancengisa and Stayira played on Power FM and Radio Zimbabwe,” said Nyoni.

He said they were looking forward to release an album early next year.

Criss Ozzy has featured renowned Mokoomba in one of the songs while he has also worked with Nyasha Timbe and Tony G from Harare. Some of the singles in the sleeve are Siyabangena which features Mokoomba, Siyancengisa, Mkhuzeni which is a rebuke to music critics, Run Vic Falls which features a number of Victoria Falls artistes and two singles Mina Nawe and Dali Wami taken from the previous albums.
