ZIMBABWE National Army (ZNA) Executive Interactive Initiative (EII) Matabeleland Chapter Fun Shoot returns this weekend.

The event, which was last held in October at Woolandale Range in Matopos is scheduled for  Saturday at the same venue.

EII Matabeleland Chapter chairman, Trust Mabaya said they were looking forward to the biggest fun shoot with a number of companies having indicated their interest to participate in the event.

Mabaya said unlike previous events that have dragged on until late in the day they would be streamlining some of the activities while increasing the number of participants in those that remain.

“We don’t want to drag on until very late so we looking at dropping one event and remaining with those that would enable more participants to come on board. While we are yet to make the final decision on which activity to drop we are likely to see the pistols being done away with. We are responding to suggestions from previous events and we going to AK 47 individual shoot, falling plates and PKM machine guns,” he said.

Mabaya said companies have indicated interest in bringing employees and also erecting stalls at the venue with some funding.

He said proceeds from the event will be channeled towards a charity organisation that is yet to be determined.

“As with previous events, we are going to have music, a jumping castle for children, braai and a full bar. It is an event for business and the army to meet interact, network and create contacts. It is aimed at demystifying the army allowing civilians to engage with soldiers in an informal and social gathering,” he said.

The EII Matabeleland Chapter holds the fun shoot in conjunction with 1 Infantry Brigade. EII is the brain child of the commander of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces General Phillip Valerio Sibanda, with a vision to bring together the military and business community to foster relations in a bid to have them working together towards giving back to selected charities.
