THE Zimbabwe Under-19 women’s cricket team got redemption from two consecutive defeats to win their fourth match against Omtex ICWC Cricket Institute by 31 runs in Mumbai on
Friday.
Zimbabwe, batting first posted 123-4 in 20 overs before they restricted their opponents to 92-7 to take home the victory.
Young Lady Chevrons captain and star all-rounder Kelis Ndhlovu top scored for the visitors with an unbeaten half century. Ndhlovu finished on exactly 50 runs. Vimbai Mutungwindu was the second leading run scorer with 20 on the board.

Adel Zimunu, Michelle Mavunga and Natasha Mtomba scored 13, 10 and 10 runs respectively for Zimbabwe. Yayati Gawade, Vedal Raut, Vedika Patil all took one wicket each for the hosts.
Michelle Mavunga was the star with the ball for Zimbabwe taking three wickets for 15 runs in her regulated four overs. The skipper, Ndhlovu also took three scalps, conceding just 14 runs in her four overs to round up the innings.
Yayati Gawade and Anushree Swami were the top scorers for the hosts both finishing with 19 runs as the former remained unbeaten.

Zimbabwe are using the tour to India as part of their preparations for next year’s inaugural International Cricket Council Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup in South Africa.
The Young Lady Chevrons got automatic qualification to the global showpiece alongside South Africa, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, Ireland, New Zealand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, United States of America and the West Indies. Indonesia, Rwanda, Scotland and the United Arab Emirates booked their tickets through regional qualifiers.
