METRO Peech and Browne Wholesalers officially opened a new branch in the city yesterday, amid calls for companies to support each other in promoting local brands.
Speaking at a draw to officially open the branch, Member of Parliament for Lobengula Constituency Cde Maidei Mpala, who was the guest of honour, said through supporting each other, companies would also play a big role in addressing the liquidity crisis in the country as more money would be circulating.

“It is high time companies in the city and the country at large support each other so as to ensure that local brands become more visible in the market. This wholesale has done a good job as it has managed to create jobs for locals and I am confident that through your support they will employ more people as time goes on,” said Cde Mpala.

“The revival of the city industry depends on how supportive companies are to each other. There is no need to be importing goods when there are local companies that are producing them.

“I want to urge Metro Peech to spread its wings and open more branches in the region so as to create more employment.”
The company’s branch manager, Mr Erben Ncube, commended the support they received since opening the branch in April. He also added that they were going to hold more promotions as part of thanking customers for their unwavering support.

Said Mr Ncube: “We opened the branch in April but the support we got exceeded our expectations. This was an opening promotion and customers should also be geared up for the winter promotion which will be held in August where more prizes will be won. We really appreciate the support we are getting and as part of our social responsibility we will continue conducting draws.”

The draw saw Mr Mbuso Dube, a lucky customer, win a Toyota Toyoace truck. Some of the prizes that were won include generators, a plasma television, fridge and a stove.

Metro Peech and Browne is a wholesale distributor with 15 branches operating in areas such as Harare, Chiredzi, Mutoko and Rusape employing more than 500 people.
