AFTER losing both parents while admitted to Mpilo Central Hospital in Bulawayo, the state of the wards touched one man’s soul and triggered his philanthropic button and has offered to renovate a ward at the institution.

Mr Dumisani Moyo, a banker in England said he was touched by the state of Ward B6 when he visited the hospital.

“Despite my father and mother having passed on at the hospital, I felt the need to assist for the sake of those who will be admitted. It is our responsibility to also assist the Government in service provision as they cannot do it alone,” he said.

The project will cost an estimated $70 000.

“This will be a complete renovation, I am replacing the plumbing, doors, bath tubs, showers, toilets, linen, tiling of walls and floors, wash basins, curtains and also painting just to name a few,” he said.

Mr Moyo also said he has purchased cardiac tables, wheel chairs, weigh scales, drip stands, mattress protectors, food, surgical and medical trolleys. Mr Moyo said coming from humble beginnings, he had to work hard to get to where he is.

“I started with a school in Filabusi when my father was still alive, I donated educational materials and computers. I then started paying school fees and buying uniforms for child-headed families at that same school,” he said.

Mr Moyo also replaced a classroom block that was blown away and later offered to build another at the school. He also drilled two boreholes in the same community.

His philanthropic work did not stop there. In April, he supplied cleaning detergents, gloves and other medical supplies to Mpilo.Mr Moyo who said for the next two months he will be in the country to ensure that the work is completed. ZB Financial Holdings Bank has contributed to the project by giving out $5 800.
