CHINA stands ready to assist Zimbabwe to realise its aspirations of establishing a prosperous society by 2030, Chinese Deputy Ambassador to Zimbabwe Mr Zhao Baogang has said.
In his solidarity message at the Zanu-PF’s Annual National People’s Conference, which ended yesterday in Goromonzi, Mr Baogang said Beijing would not waver in its commitment to support the country.
“It is my great honour to lead the delegation from the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Chinese Embassy to come here and participate at this Annual National People’s Conference; to show our solidarity to Zanu-PF party.
“We believe you are not only the party of today, but you are also a party of the future.
“We came here to show our solidarity and support for the people of Zimbabwe; to support your efforts in realising Vision 2030.
“We want to say we always stand together with the people of Zimbabwe and the Government of Zimbabwe. We will remain united; we will prosper,” he said.
The CPC, he added, cherished the longstanding friendship with Zanu-PF.
US-based December 12 Movement leader Viola Plummer said the illegal sanctions on Zimbabwe by the United States should be removed as demanded by the international community.
She thanked President Mnangagwa and the people of Zimbabwe for giving a befitting burial to their former leader, Cde Coltrane Chimurenga.
Cde Chimurenga died in the United States this year and was buried at Harare Provincial Heroes Acre.
“We are humbled by your invitation to share this momentous conference with you. We are here once again to propose our unity with Zanu-PF, the Government and most of all the people of Zimbabwe,” she said.
“We are here to make it crystal clear that the illegal sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe have been blocked by the people of America, the people across the world and now internationally and the sanctions should be removed.
“Today we came to pay a particular thank you to you, the party and the people of Zimbabwe for giving us the greatest honour to have one of our leaders Cde Coltrane Chimurenga buried here in Zimbabwe,” she said.
Zimbabwe Indigenous Inter-Denominational Churches representative Reverend Andrew Wutaunashe said: “The party is an invaluable instrument of God in building the nation. We need to understand the economic hardship the country is facing. We urge our people to disregard the destructive voices which seek to decampaign this initiative of building our economy. People should respect the leadership which has been elected by the people.”
Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries president Mr Henry Ruzvidzo also thanked the party “for leading the struggle for social and economic emancipation of the people of Zimbabwe”.
