A BULAWAYO family has expressed their worry over their relative who they said has gone missing for the past couple of weeks.

Thabani Ndlovu is said to be missing with all his mobile phones no longer going through, with family members saying they feared for the worst following the arrest of 23 opposition activists, with two of them dying under unclear circumstances while in police custody.

Ndlovu and the group that was arrested, which included Mkhulisi Tshuma, Andrew Ncube and Nicholas Mpofu, are known Citizen Coalition for Change activists who have been active in mobilizing members for the party ahead of the upcoming elections.

The group also spearheaded a voter registration campaign in the city, where they would use their resources to transport CCC members to the registration centres.

According to family members who declined to be named fearing victimization, the group had been arrested for their activities for the opposition party in the city.

“These group was passionate in working for CCC, they had the largest number of people they had recruited to the party and also ensured that they are registered to vote. Two of those arrested died while in police custody. Fortunately, Ndlovu managed to evade arrest on the fateful day.

“However, our worry now is that Ndlovu has also suddenly gone missing, we are not sure whether he was eventually arrested or he has gone into hiding. The police are claiming they did not arrest him; infact they say they are also looking for him. His mobile phones are not going through, even his acquaintances are saying they do not know his whereabouts,” said the relative.

The family revealed that they have checked most of the police stations and hospitals, and all have no record of Ndlovu.

“We are therefore appealing to any member of the public who might see him or know his whereabouts to please assist us,” said the relative.
