SOUTH Africa-based loose forward Biselele Tshamala is back in the Zimbabwe national Sevens rugby team, the Cheetahs, after he was named in the final 12-man squad for the HSBC World Rugby Sevens series qualifier in Hong Kong that starts on Friday. Tshamala last appeared in national colours at the same tournament last year. He was left out of the Zimbabwe Sables team which participated in the 2015 Rugby World Cup qualifiers in Madagascar as well as the play-off against Russia.

The 24-year-old mobile loose forward who plays prop in the shortest version of the game put up a brilliant show for his club Varsity College in Durban last year which saw him earn a call up to the Sharks Club XV for the South African Rugby Union Central Amateur Championship.

Veteran Fortune Chipendu, youngsters Mkhululi Ndlela, Takudzwa Francisco and Tapiwa Tsomondo were the players who missed out on selection while flyhalf Lenience Tambwera was left out as he could not secure a release from South African franchise Falcons whom he plays for in the Vodacom Cup.

A final travelling squad of 12 players was named last Friday after an intense training camp held at Stellenbosch Sports Academy which is the base for the Neil Powell coached Springboks Sevens.

The Cheetahs, under the tutelage of Daniel Hondo leave for Hong Kong from Cape Town today.
