DAIRIBORD Holdings has donated an assortment of dairy products to hospitals in the country that will be given to patients to aid in improving their dietary needs.

The company said this was in line with their thrust of assisting those in need and also to aid in the fight against the Coronavirus. The company said it had channeled $4million and $3million worth of products.

The company’s marketing executive Mrs Tracy Mutaviri handed over a consignment at Mpilo Central Hospital on Wednesday.

“In times of a health crisis triggered by the novel Coronavirus virus which has proved to be merciless especially to vulnerable members of our society, the sick and the old, the old who are also sick this is the time when nutritious foods are needed most. As Dairibord, we saw it fit to rise to the national challenge and join the nation in fighting this global pandemic targeting hospitals as beneficiaries,” she said.

The marketing executive said the company would distribute their donation to 11 hospitals in the country.

“Today’s donation to Mpilo Hospital is the 9th presentation in our handover programme of products donated to the respective hospitals. Hospitals have been indicating how much they can handle at every delivery given the cold chain requirements for some of our products as well as general storage space requirements for dry goods,” she said.

The team at Dairibord Holdings also paid tribute to doctors, nurses and all other health workers for steadfastly remaining at the coal face ensuring all the patients are looked after and attended medically as they battle the various illnesses which compromise their immune system and make them very vulnerable to Covid19.

The hospital received 300 cases of Pfuko Maheu, 300 of Cascade, 25 Inyanga Tea (48kg bags), 1500 cases of Yummy Yoghurt, Yoggie 160 cases and 250 cases of lacto. The total value of the donated products was $378 800.

Other beneficiaries in Zimbabwe are hospitals, Sally Mugabe, Parirenyatwa, Marondera, Wilkins, Nyanga, Masvingo, Mutare, Chipinge, Gweru and Ekusileni.
