Tsholotsho District Hospital received another boost when its all-weather friends, the United Kingdom Tsholotsho community handed over a solar-powered submissive pump together with a 1 000 litres Jojo tank.

The donation, handed over to the hospital authorities last Tuesday at a function also graced by Senator Alice Dube and other Government officials from the district, comes after a donation of 91 and 331 curtains in May and October last year by the same group whose members all hail from Tsholotsho district. The curtains were used to cover the maternity ward which had no single curtain, impeding upon the dignity of women who had to endure the shame of delivering babies in the open.

A representative of the UK Tsholotsho Community Mr Jarath Gadlagadla Ndlovu said the donation was a clear sign that even though they are in the diaspora, the group members have never forgotten about their roots adding that the gesture was purely out of love and empathy for their district of origin.

“These children were never asked to make this donation, it’s out of their love for Tsholotsho hence this latest donation, remember we were here last year, first with 91 curtains and later 331 all this through efforts by our very own children who never shy away that they hail from Tsholotsho district,” said Mr Ndlovu.

He said the donation, just like the previous ones, must never be viewed in any other way other than what it’s meant to achieve. Don’t even see any political intentions from all this, it’s all out of the need to see a better Tsholotsho,” said Mr Ndlovu.

Senator Dube, in her keynote address, said it was humbling to see diasporans helping in the development and emancipation of communities as called for by President Mnangagwa when he challenged Zimbabweans in the diaspora to invest back home.

“This is a massive development for our district and I want to thank our children for such a gesture. It’s exactly what President Mnangagwa has been preaching. I will definitely make sure that word gets to him that there has been such a huge development in Tsholotsho, courtesy of diasporans,” said Sen Dube.
