A GWANDA family have called on authorities to come to the rescue of their daughter who has reportedly gone into hiding following torment she has suffered in the hands of a Chiweshe-based Zanu-PF official.

The Moyo family from Matsholomatshe village on Gwanda district, Matabeleland South province have revealed that their daughter, Bridget Nkazimulo Moyo who got married to Leroy Chisuvi in Chiweshe, Mashonaland Central Province has been subjected to various forms of torment at her place of work in Chiweshe.

It is reported that Bridget was working as a maid for a family with strong links to the ruling party, where the husband, Hondo Nyika was a known senior member of the party in the province.

“When our daughter, Bridget Nkazimulo Moyo married Leroy Chisuvi, she had to naturally move to Chiweshe, where she was subsequently employed by Hondo Nyika and his family as a maid. She would go there during the week and take weekends off.

“However, we understand, at one point when she returned to work following her off days, she found, Nyika’s wife, Sandra, had packed and left him under unclear circumstances,” said Moyo’s relative who preferred anonymity fearing victimization.

After Moyo’s wife left, the sources revealed that it was at that point that Moyo begun to be tormented by Nyika who reportedly even barred her from taking her off days.

“What we understand is that Nyika was now literally forcing Moyo to be his wife even raping her, declaring that since his wife had left him, Moyo was now meant to take over that role. She was now not supposed to go to her family during the weekend, even attempts by her husband to intervene hit a brick wall as he was threatened with unknown action.

“Now for Moyo to finally manage to get an off day she told us that she acted as if she was now cooperating with Nyika regarding to acting as his wife and as a reward he granted her a weekend off, which is when she took advantage and ran away back to her village,” said the source.

“However, she has since gone into hiding again as she fears Nyika can trace her as he previously represented Zanu-PF when they were donating in her home village, she just disappeared with no trace at all, which is why we have decided to approach the media with the hope of probable getting assistance on this matter,” added the source.
