MORE than 100 Bulawayo residents yesterday received free medical treatment during an outreach held by the Bulawayo Centenary Lions Club as part of the organisation’s social responsibility programme.
The club deployed more than 20 medical practitioners to Emakhandeni Hall in Emakhandeni who attended to more than 100 people. The patients were tested for various ailments while some received counselling.
Bulawayo Centenary Lions Club president Mr Albert Mnkandla said the aim of the medical outreach was to bring hospital facilities nearer to the people and help those who cannot afford the hospital bills.
“We are an organisation which wants to help people, especially the elderly, who cannot afford medical assistance. Our aim is to help people to know their status as today we were doing free check-ups to assist them in knowing if they should get medical attention. The highest level of sugar diabetes recorded today (yesterday) was 21,3 and the lowest was 1,1 of sugar levels, this is a sign that these people should get medical attention as soon as possible,” he said.
