The first ever twitter party was recently launched at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe in Bulawayo.

The twitter party is a platform which aims to bring the digital world to live events. The event was organised and hosted by the Hunnar Management Agency and Bead Crazy.

Speaking to Sunday Life, Gilmore Tee Moyo, publicist of the Hunnar Management Agency said it was high time artistes bring the new media into the arts industry.

“This social media offers entrepreneurs, entertainers and artistes an opportunity to launch their projects to an already cyber active audience, making it easier to flood the internet in the duration of the event,” he said.

According to Moyo, creative spaces are places of entertainment like parks, galleries, museums and even streets. He said that there are a lot of interesting things that these places have produced and yet people shun them. To spice up the event various artistes were lined up to belt out live performances.

“There was live performances and wine tasting during the period. Hip-hop artiste, Asaph kicked off the event with a high performance which left most of the audience wanting more.

“Other outstanding acts were Zima Award winner Skaiva who performed with the Soulful Rakeem, the beautiful DJ Liz also showed why she performs alongside Renowned DJs such as Black Coffee, DJ Zinhle and Black Motion, she displayed an outstanding set. Other performances included Gabs Fire, The Red Bee and Kas-No-Valo Entertainment”, Moyo added.

“The usage of twitter and other forms of social media have increased in the past years, the idea is for artistes to push their brands or projects on these platforms so as to reach a larger and wider audience.”

The group uses twitter handles- @tweetZW or #tweetZW.
