GREAT bowling by Zimbabwe saw them beat Namibia by nine wickets to record their third win at the Capricorn Twenty20 International triangular cricket series at the Centre for Cricket Development Ground, Windhoek, Namibia yesterday.

It was certainly sweet revenge for the Gary Brent-coached Lady Chevrons after they suffered a seven wicket loss to the Namibians on the opening day of the tri-series last Wednesday.

Set a victory target of 42 runs, Zimbabwe crossed the finish line for the loss of just one wicket as they reached 45/1 in 6.3 overs to win with 81 balls to spare.

Josephine Nkomo

Zimbabwe put up a brilliant show to blow away Namibia for just 41 runs in 17 overs. Medium pace bowler Josephine Nkomo was outstanding with ball in hand as she picked up four wickets for just seven runs in three overs. Leg spinner Anesu Mushangwe had 2/7 while there was a wicket each for Nomvelo Sibanda, Francisca Chipare, Precious Marange and Loryn Phiri.

Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano

In their run chase, Zimbabwe lost Kelis Ndlovu for 11 runs but Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano, Zimbabwe’s best batter top scored with an unbeaten 28 runs off 20 runs while skipper Mary-Anne Musonda was also not out on five.

Zimbabwe’s two wins have come against Uganda. The three teams in the series are playing each other thrice before the top two teams meet in the final on Thursday. – Follow on Twitter @Mdawini_29
