A JEALOUS man from Nkayi who could not control his anger stabbed his wife on the hand using a spear accusing her of cheating on him with his friend after noticing footprints in the yard.
This was the second time the man, Masango Nsimba (30) had attacked his wife, Sharon Ndebele over the same accusations as he had previously bashed her with a hoe and an iron bar. This came to light when Nsimba appeared before Nkayi magistrate Mr Temba Chimiso facing charges of assault last week. Mr Chimiso sentenced Nsimba to three years in jail of which one year was suspended for five years on condition of good behaviour.
Prosecuting, Mr Winken Ngozo said on an unknown date at about 11pm, Nsimba came home drunk and was told by his wife that his friend had visited looking for him.
“This angered Nsimba and he accused Ndebele of having an affair with his friend since he always visited when he was not around,” said Mr Ngozo.
The court heard that the two had a misunderstanding and Nsimba struck Ndebele with a hoe twice on the head and several other times all over the body with an iron bar. Ndebele sustained serious injuries and was taken to Nkayi District Hospital for treatment. However, she did not report the case to the police.
Nsimba is alleged to have taken advantage of the fact that Ndebele concealed the assault and he kept on accusing her of being involved with his friend. The court further heard that on the second account Nsimba suspected that footprints he found in his yard were his friend’s. Nsimba accused his wife for the second time of having extramarital affairs. She denied the allegations and Nsimba stabbed her once with a spear on the right hand. Ndebele was taken to Nkayi District Hospital and a police report was made leading to the arrest of Nsimba.
