THE Minister of State for Matabeleland South Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Cde Abednico Ncube, has castigated Gwanda bar owners and patrons who continue to defy lockdown regulations.

Some bars at Phakama Business Centre continue to operate although Government said bars and night clubs remain closed until further notice due to the threat of a third wave of Covid-19 infections and deaths.

On Friday, Minister Ncube took part in the Environmental Management Agency (Ema) national clean-up day.

Speaking after the clean-up exercise at Phakama Business Centre, Minister Ncube implored club owners to close and residents to participate in achieving a clean environment.

“A lot of people as we were walking around picking up litter, we found them at bars (open in defiance of lockdown) where they were drinking with beer containers littered around the surroundings. People are allowed to drink but not in those areas at the moment and you should follow that. Residents of Gwanda of which many of you contribute in littering, are not participating in the clean up and in that light, I will be calling the councillors to a meeting to address the matter,” said Minister Ncube.

Minister Ncube said the clean-up exercise should run across the province. — @mthabisi_mthire
