A MPOPOMA vendor was recently brutally attacked in front of his family after he allegedly refused to distribute campaign material belonging to the ruling Zanu-PF party.

Likwa Moyo who is a member of the Nelson Chamisa’s CCC party and a popular vendor in the suburb was reportedly attacked by Zanu-PF members who accused him of refusing to distribute political material belonging to the party.

He has also previously been attacked by members of the Douglas Mwonzora led MDC Alliance.

On the fateful day, Moyo was operating from the stall when some Zanu-PF youths came with their pamphlets which they were ordering vendors in the suburb to distribute on their behalf.

“Moyo refused to take the material claiming that while he was a CCC supporter his was all about conducting his business and not engage in politics. The party youths initially went away but returned later and beat him to a pulp right in front of his wife and children.

“During the chaos Moyo was shockingly later arrested for public violence where he was the torture continued with police accusing him of inciting public violence. He only woke up in hospital where he was taken by a stranger, after the attack,” said a source close to the attack.

Moyo was treated at Mpilo Hospital for his injuries.

“What we are hearing now is that Moyo was not even arrested by the police by members of the CIO. Now he cannot even approach the police to report the matter fearing further victimisation.

“It is honestly not fair because his crime is just running an honest business of being a vendor and exercising hus democratic right of supporting the CCC,” said the source.
