IT was a difficult week for top teams in the Zifa Central Region Division One League as the top three failed to notch victories.
Whawha remained perched at the top of the log after playing a goalless draw against ZPC Munyati and second-placed TelOne also managed the same result after being held by Ivan Hoe Mine while Sheasham suffered a slender 1-0 defeat to remain third but are now on the same points (11) with FC Platinum U-19 who beat FC Lesaffre 2-0, who complete the top four.

FC Platinum’s win saw them leap from position seven to fourth and could take second position by end of today’s matches as they play bottom-placed Blanket Mine in a rescheduled fixture set for this afternoon.

Another rescheduled fixture will see FC Lesaffre take on Tongogara as the league seeks to ensure all teams have played an equal number of matches. In the Zifa Southern Region Division One League, Hwange had taken the lead going into this weekend’s matches with 17 points, one above second-placed Tsholotsho while Makomo, CIWU, ZPC Hwange and Mosi Rovers all had 13 points with only the goal difference separating them.

The Joseph Sibindi-coached Tsholotsho take on Bosso 90 in today’s fixtures while Makomo, whose technical department is headed by Rahman Gumbo, host Zim Leopards in Hwange, all other games had been scheduled for yesterday (Saturday).
