Zimbabwe vs DRC Congo (National Sports Stadium 16/10/2018)
Who says four points out of six points is not a good pass?

The point from the National Sports Stadium  with some luck can play a trick on the qualification to the finals for Zimbabwe.

At this stage of the competition it’s not about some pretty  football, getting a result either way is accepted.

Besides that, both teams could not play a passing game on an uneven surface which was bumpy and made both teams struggle with cohesion.

Getting the early goal from Billiat  brought some stability in the Warriors which nearly brought the second goal which was disallowed  unfortunately.

My advice to the team is to avoid opponents making free runs unmarked in their  own half.

The equaliser came when  two  Zimbabwean  players went to mark one DRC player on the left side of the  pitch where he passed to his  unmarked playmate who put the cross for an own goal from Teenage Hadebe.

But I am confident that Warriors will be in the Afcon finals next year.

Highlanders vs Bulawayo City: League Game BF (21/10/2018)
Derbies are unpredictable, relegated or whether you are on top of log means nothing. It’s about who will walk down town like a winner with ladies admiring them on a Monday morning.

Highlanders  players had nothing in their tactics to show hunger.

They failed to support their coaches who believed in them so much that they can finish in the top four, even after forcing more than ten corners in the game and getting their goal after a City defender screwed a corner only to beat his goalkeeper for Tendai to nod  home in the fourth minute.

Come second half, in the 46th minute  a beautiful  striker  with all the required qualities from Trevor Ndlovu hit the under of the cross bar at the far post.  Ozias  Zibande quickly reacted  to tap into the  nets for an equaliser.

It’s unfortunate  and very disappointing for City players to now come up with all this positive spirit, approach, attitude with only four games left in the season.

I hope and wish them a quick return to top football and that they correct this once and for all. That was displayed  by the desire to fight all the way with a winning goal in the 66th minute.

Coaching counts

A coach has to be able to express himself  and understand what he is talking about, just being able to demonstrate how to pass, trap or dribble is not enough.

I feel that there are periods in a young boy’s life when despite his natural keenness and ability, he finds himself losing patience and is unable to correct some faults which are spoiling his game and drawing back his progress.

But really the search for young stars of tomorrow should start with schools as indeed it does in many places where they have the benefit of proper coaching facilities.

We have inter-school competitions and internationals, but many schools never produce any bright boys and girls because  they simply do not have a proper coaching set up or help of experienced coaches. A coach is not really doing  everything.

A good one will concern himself with individual tuition because he must understand that a good footballer expresses himself, by that I mean it is not good trying to make a strong big player who would make a good central half into a fancy little  dribbler.

It is far better to get  the big player to concentrate on tackling  accurately and fairly making good passes, controlled long ball kicking and heading.

What really?

Manchester United purchased Stockport country’s Hugh MClenahan for freezers full of ice cream.
