THE Zimbabwe men and women’s beach volleyball teams are expected to hold a two-week camp in Mozambique ahead of their participation at the African Games set for Congo-Brazzaville from 4 to 19 September.
A total of eight beach volleyball players (four men and four women) are set to leave by road this week under the guidance of two coaches, Vengai Nyaude and Vuyiswa Dlomo.
Secretary-general of the beach volleyball association, Ringisai Mapondera, who is also the team manager, together with international referee Elliot Mupariwa will be part of the camp.
ZVA president Frederick Ndlovu said the association had organised a camp in Mozambique ahead of the forthcoming continental games.
“We are planning to have a two-week camp in Maputo as part of our final preparations for the African Games to be held in Congo-Brazzaville with a final wind down at a venue outside Harare,” said Ndlovu.
The two teams secured a berth in the 11th edition of the Games in April after they all finished on fourth position in the regional qualifiers which were held in Mozambique.
This is Zimbabwe’s third year playing beach volleyball, with the first time being in 2013 at the Zone VI All Africa Games qualifiers.
