THE Zimbabwe Pastors Round Table Fellowship (ZPRTF) has appointed a new board whose mandate is to direct the church to be involved in national development through fostering unity among citizens across all denominations.

The board comprises 12 members drawn from different denominations countrywide and Reverend Taurai Cheuka from Harare is the president. There are 10 provincial coordinators as well as administration representatives also from different provinces.

The fellowship seeks to foster a good working relationship between the church and Government and Apostle Tamuka Nyoni of Lupane, Matabeleland North was appointed to two portfolios of national executive liaising coordinator between Government and the church, as well as secretary for provincial coordinators and provincial affairs to push the agenda.

In a statement, Rev Cheuka said 2021 was not an easy year to the church in Zimbabwe due to Covid-19 induced lockdown restrictions.

“However, we saw the hand of God in our nation and by his grace many lives were preserved. To those who lost their loved ones due to Covid-19 virus, on behalf of ZPRTF I would like to express my deep condolences,” said Rev Cheuka.

He encouraged the new board members to work hard for the growth of the organisation and missionary work in Zimbabwe. Apostle Nyoni said provincial coordinators will be tasked to recruit more members. He has mobilised 23 pastors from Matabeleland North.

“Our role is to identify pastors who are called by God and are less privileged, and enroll them at our Bible college.

There is a Presidential scholarship which caters for such pastors and others hence we encourage all called servants of God to go through this channel to have much knowledge in theology.

We will work hand in hand with Government to bring pastors and the church together to participate in national developmental programmes. As the church we have a large constituency as most Zimbabwean people are Christians hence we would like to participate fully in the forthcoming elections as observers,” he said.
