“I am flying to Harare this evening (last evening) with my friend Kanu who will be part of the Emirates FA Cup to Zimbabwe. I am not part of the tour, but am only coming because of the close ties I have with Kanu who is coming to my country,” Benjani said.

Benjani welcomed the opportunity to travel to his home country with a legend of Kanu’s stature.

“Apart from being good friends, I have loads of respect for Kanu and for me it’s an honour to accompany him to Zimbabwe on his ambassadorial tour with the Emirates FA Cup,” Benjani added.

The tour is part of the tournament’s sponsors, Dubai-based airline company Emirates’ efforts to promote the oldest domestic football tournament across the world. Zimbabwe is the 4th African country to get an opportunity of hosting the iconic trophy which boasts a rich history and heritage. The
