RENOWNED educationist and Bulawayo provincial education director Mr Dan Moyo has retired from the civil service after serving in Government for 42 years.

Confirming Mr Moyo’s resignation, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education Dr Sylvia Utete-Masango said Mr Moyo’s services will be missed as he had dedicated his entire life towards serving the nation.

“Yes, Mr Moyo has left the service. He is one individual whose services will really be missed because he was dedicated in everything he did as a provincial director.

One thing which I must assure you of is that we will continue calling up to his experience especially in instances where we require people with institutional memory,” said Dr Utete-Masango.

She revealed that Mrs Ollicah Fikelephi Kaira will be acting director until the appointment of a substantive director.

“Mr Mathias Luphahla will be the deputy director. However, we will work with the Civil Service Commission for the appointment of a substantive director to fill the gap which has been left by Mr Moyo,” said the Permanent Secretary.

Contacted for comment, Mr Moyo confirmed his retirement saying he will officially end his time with the Government on 24 February.

“I have been with the civil service for 42 years after having joined in 1975 where I held various positions until I became the Matabeleland North regional director before becoming the Bulawayo provincial education director, a position I have held up to now,” said Mr Moyo.
