ENVIRONMENT, Water and Climate Deputy Minister, Cde Simon Musanhu, who died in Harare last week was yesterday buried at Glen Forest Memorial Park in Harare.
He was 47.Mourners at the burial described Cde Musanhu, who collapsed and died at his Greystone Park home last Thursday, as a hard worker and humble person.

Agriculture, Irrigation and Mechanisation Deputy Minister, Cde Paddy Zhanda said the country would miss Cde Musanhu’s intelligence and commitment to serve the people.

“We have lost one of the new breed of leaders who was committed to deliver a better Zimbabwe for all,” he said.

Former Labour and Social Services Minister, Cde Tongai Muzenda said Cde Musanhu was among the group of young leaders who were dedicated to serve Zimbabwe.

“He was a very good friend of mine and we have lost a cadre, technocrat and a servant of the people who was committed to see a better Zimbabwe where we live in harmony as one people,” he said.

Last week, Acting President Cde Emmerson Mnangangwa described the death of the former deputy minister as a shock as he never reported being ill.

Family spokesperson and brother to the late, Shepherd Musanhu thanked President Mugabe, his Deputies, Government and Zanu-PF for consoling the family during their time of bereavement.

“As a family we are grateful to President Mugabe, his Deputies and the Government for the support they have rendered to us, we will forever be grateful for the love,” he said.

The burial was also attended by Minister of Environment, Water and Climate Cde Saviour Kasukuwere, senior Government officials and former ministers.

Cde Musanhu is survived by his wife, Emma and two children — Dadiso and Simbarashe.
