EDWARD Nyekete as well as Natasha Botha were the winners in the men and women’s categories respectively at the PPC Charity Golf Day held at the Elephant Hills Golf Course in Victoria Falls yesterday.

Out of 56 men, Nyekete finished on top with 41 points, followed by Bheki Mthembu on 39 points. Botha came out tops out of nine women. She had 32 points and was closely followed by Terry Tshamala on 31.

Brian Gondo from Bulawayo Country Club was the best professional golfer on 36 points, followed by Philip Tshuma also of BGC who had 33 points while Thembelani Vundla was third with 29 points. Fourth place among the pros went to Peter Banda who had 25 points and Stephen Simukai was fifth with 19 points.

A total of 70 golfers, 61 males and nine females took part in the annual charity golf event. Njombo Lekula, the PPC Southern Africa managing director as well as the PPC Zimbabwe head of sales and marketing Nkosana Mapuma were some of the golfers who took part in the charity event.

Individual stable ford format of play was implemented for the tournament. Mudiwa Mhazo, the best player at the 2021 PPC Charity Golf Day did not take part this year. This year, the events was held to raise funds for sanitary pads for girls in Binga at Manjolo High School.

Participants were urged to bring sanitary pads or donate cash towards this charitable cause.
In 2021, the PPC Charity Golf Day raised funds and collected blankets which were all donated to the Victoria Falls Old People’s Home. — Follow on Twitter @Mdawini_29
