BULAWAYO Chiefs women’s side, Amakhosikazi have gained promotion into the Zimbabwe Women Super League with five games to go.

The side has accumulated 51 points from 17 games. They have won all their games this season while scoring a massive 95 goals in the process.

Loxin Vipers are second on the table with 34 points while ZRP Bulawayo are in third place with 31 points.

Bulawayo Chiefs coach Evans Netha believes his girls are ready for the top flight league.

“We are happy with what we have done this season. This is a special group of ladies whom l feel deserve what we have achieved. I think the ladies have stuck to all the plans we had drafted and executed to perfection which is why l say they deserve the promotion.

“We have all worked hard for this and also the support we have received from the Chiefs family made our journey even smoother.

“We are new to the premier league but we want to give them a run. We are not going into the league to make up numbers but we also want to win games,” said Netha.

Bulawayo Chiefs joined the elite group of Premier Soccer League clubs that take Confederation of African Football (Caf) club competitions seriously by establishing a women’s side last year.

The new Caf regime announced in August that starting from this year, only clubs that invest in women’s football would be allowed to take part in its club competitions such as the Champions League and Confederation Cup.

The continental body is serious about the development of women’s football, hence the decision to make it mandatory for clubs that wish to compete in the Champions League and Confederation Cup to have women’s structures for the 2022/23 competitions. -@innocentskizoe
