Women, girls urged to take advantage of new Freedom of Information Act Ms Nyaradzo Mashayamombe

TAG A Life International (TaLi) has urged women and girls across the country to take advantage of the new Freedom of Information Act to promote Human Rights.

TaLi a couple of weeks ago launched a campaign to promote the new Act, pointing out its importance in society.

TaLi director Ms Nyaradzo Mashayamombe encouraged women and girls to have access to information that can promote their rights in all peripheries of the country including people in rural areas and minor groups.

“The new law ensures that every citizen in Zimbabwe including our journalist should have the courage to access information. The law aims to ensure that women, girls, the vulnerable, and youth also participate in a democracy especially those who come from the peripheries of the country in rural areas, and accountability of accessing information that contributes to monitoring how public resources are being used,” she said.

Students at the tertiary level have also been urged to exercise their rights to access information in line with the student’s policies are concerned.

TaLi is also looking forward to initiating the right to education campaign for children based on Section 75 of the constitution of Zimbabwe.
