ZANU-PF Midlands Province has complied with the party’s National Secretary for Administration Cde Obert Mpofu’s directive to hand in all the submitted curricula vitae (CVs) for the aspiring candidates intending to contest in the primary elections.

In Midlands, 47 CVs had failed to meet the minimum requirements as stipulated by the elections guidelines set by the party ahead of the primary elections.

However, Cde Mpofu ordered provinces not to disqualify aspiring party candidates wishing to contest in the forthcoming primary elections as that would be done at national level.

Cde Mpofu said the order comes after aspiring candidates have inundated the leadership with calls claiming that their CVs had been disqualified at district and provincial level. Zanu-PF Midlands provincial spokesperson Cde Cornelius Mpereri said the province had submitted all the CVs to the National Elections Directorate to deliberate on the illegibility or lack thereof of the 47 CVs.

“We submitted all the CVs we received from aspiring candidates. What happened is that as a province we made our own recommendations to the National Elections Directorate highlighting those that failed to meet the elections guidelines set by the party,” he said.

On Saturday, Zanu-PF accepted 157 CVs that were submitted by party members aspiring to be parliamentary candidates in the forthcoming harmonised elections. Eight CVs were submitted for Senatorial posts. Zanu-PF Midlands provincial chairman Engineer Daniel McKenzie Ncube said the party was still compiling CVs submitted by council seats aspirants.
