IN a move that is set to strengthen party organs and empower citizens, the Zanu-PF provincial structures in Bulawayo has started breathing life to its districts that were dissolved a few years ago.

The revamping of districts is part of the Zanu-PF’s commissariat programme to ensure that all the party’s organs are active for co-ordination, mobilisation and empowerment purposes.

Addressing party members from DCC 5 in Nketa yesterday, provincial chairman Cde Jabulani Sibanda, delivered a moving and instructive lecture on the role of the latter-day party member.

Ward 25A in Nketa has been the first district to be reignited in the province in an event which was punctuated by song and dance where a number of senior party officials attended.

“You should not forget the role played by the liberators and their vision for a transformed and independent nation that is punctuated by development and empowerment. I implore you to shun tribalism and pursue national development and unity of purpose against the vices of corruption and greed,” said Cde Sibanda.

He also warned those that engage in corruption saying the time shall come when chickens would come home to roost. He implored party members to support the efforts of the DCC 5 chairman Cde Mnothisi Nsingo in mobilising for the national good of the party.

The Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Cde Judith Ncube also gave a compelling address that brought to the fore the many low hanging fruits that have been provided by Government for those that sought to be empowered.

“Let us make sure that all strides being made by the Government under the able leadership of President Mnangagwa are communicated far and wide. The Gwayi-Shangani Dam, road rehabilitation and resurfacing, Hwange Power Station 7 and 8 and many other projects that the Government has embarked on among others,” she said.

The party’s provincial secretary for information, Cde Archie Chiponda, told Sunday News that the ruling party was reigniting dissolved districts as part of its mobilisation strategy towards five million votes in 2023.

“The party is a political juggernaut compared to these other non-entities. It is as President Mnangagwa has been saying; a pocket where everyone can fit. The opening of this district fits in with the recently held national cell day, it’s all part of mobilisation towards five million votes for His Excellency in next year’s election. We would hope other leaders emulate the work of DCC 5 leader Mnothisi Nsingo and focus their energy on mobilisation,” said Cde Chiponda.

The event was also attended by officials from Empowerment Bank which has partnered with a supplier committed to a community-based funding initiative that will see the districts given over 2  500-day-old chicks to kick-start projects to empower the communities. – @nyeve14
