BULAWAYO Athletic Club chairman Sebastian Nobert is under fire with some members calling for his ouster over his conviction for assault last year.

Members are reportedly unhappy with being led by someone who was recently convicted and feel this will harm the reputation of the sports club. A petition was written to the club’s board of management by members, who, however, preferred to remain anonymous, with hope the board would act on the matter.

According to an extract from the Criminal Record Book of the Magistrate for Matabeleland North, sitting at Tredgold, Nobert was found guilty of assault, convicted and slapped with 12 months imprisonment. Three months were suspended for five years on condition of good behaviour and the remaining nine months suspended on condition he completes 315 hours of community service at ZBC Montrose.
