THIS year’s Kalawa homecoming show is expected to draw a larger crowd than past shows, thanks to South Africa’s hip-hop artistes and rivals Cassper Nyovest and Aka. To ensure that the chaos that soiled past performances does not occur again, the organisers have promised to avail advance tickets to prevent long winding queues.
Show co-ordinator for Kalawa Homecoming show, Vusumuzi Siqalaba said long winding queues will be a thing of the past as there would avail advance tickets for the show.
“There will be no congestion at the gate and there will be less cash handling this time. The advance tickets will only be availed from tomorrow at a local hotel so as to avoid the chaos at the gate that normally ensues,” said Vusumuzi Sibanda, the show’s co-ordinator.
Besides Cassper Nyovest and Aka, other South African acts that will perform are Mafikizolo, Stiff, DJ Tira, DJ Fresh and DJ Pepsi. This will ensure that this year’s show will be a mixed bag.
“There will be a feel for everyone at the show. The music will be a balanced diet and cater for everyone,” he said.
Local artistes such as Cal_vin, Mzoe 7, DJ Skaiva, Defined House, Scooby, DJ Liz, Khuxxman and DJ Taunz will also be given an opportunity to showcase their music prowess.
“We are not leaving out locals as we believe it should be the opportunity for them to shine. It is sad that there is not much that the local entertainment industry can offer them and such platforms will be availed for them,” he said.
Some revellers will probably wish that 27 December be declared a public holiday as they will have to bear the brunt of going to work the next morning.
Siqalaba said there was no going back on changing the dates of the show as it had become a tradition.
“The 27th of December has become synonymous with the Homecoming Show, and we are not going back on changing the dates. We are quite aware that some will be be going to work the next day,
“At the same time, we strongly believe that people will attend the show as it offers top class acts,” he said.
