SIX Bulawayo bodybuilders, all from Body Works Gym are heading to Pretoria, South Africa for the World Fitness Federation Africa Amateur Championships on Friday and Saturday.
The six, Lovemore Munyamana, Kylie MacDonald, Prechard Hoko, Zibusiso Khumalo, Delvin Page and Lancelot Ndlovu also took part in the Zimbabwe National Bodybuilding and Fitness Championships held in Harare yesterday. It means they will not have enough to rest as they will hit the road on Thursday for the competition in the South African capital city.
Nathan Greenland, the Body Works Gym director sees the South African competition as an opportunity they want to give their up-and-coming bodybuilders to take part in yet another high profile event. While Munyamana is a seasoned athlete, having competed nationally as well as regionally, Paige, Hoko, Khumalo, Ndlovu and MacDonald do not have much experience in the sport.
Munyamana, MacDonald, Page, Khumalo and Hoko took part in the Designer Physique Bodybuilding and Power Lifting Championship held in Botswana at the beginning of May where they all excelled. The 35-year-old Munyamana was voted the best senior man on display at the Designer Physique with Page in second place. MacDonald won the women’s bikini fitness in what was only her fourth show. Hoko was the first runner-up in the men’s physique while Khumalo won the junior men’s Under-23.
