This, however, proved not enough for Daniel Hondo’s men to finish as the highest ranked team on the first day. Kenya, led by Andrew Omonde were even more imposing with a 50-5 drubbing of Mauritius, Senegal 26-0, before defeating Madagascar 46-0. Kenya will meet Madagascar for a place a in the semi-finals.

Soon after the break Zimbabwe did not put the foot off pedal, Njabulo Ndlovu sending skipper Leitao for the fifth try.

Tambwera’s conversion took the score to 31-0. O’Neill delivered the sixth try of the match for the Cheetahs after some fine work by Chitokwindo, the kick making it 38-0. Ndlovu came up with the seventh try two minutes before the end followed by another effort from Tsomondo.
