Chevrons seek victory in Singapore T20 Sean Williams

ZIMBABWE go out in hunt for their second win at the Singapore Twenty20 triangular cricket series when they clash with the host nation at the Indian Association Ground today.

The Chevrons recorded their first triumph in the tri series with a five wicket victory recorded over Nepal on Friday. It was not a pretty win seeing that the top order struggled with bat in hand. With a victory target of 133, Zimbabwe had three of their batsmen out for ducks, two of them out first ball. Skipper Sean Williams, who had earlier on taken two wickets for 19 runs in the four overs of left arm spin he bowled, fell for a golden duck together with Regis Chakabva while Tinotenda Mutombodzi went without scoring.

Ryan Burl top scored with an unbeaten 41 while man of the match Richmond Mutumbami was also not on 40, the two putting on 69 for the sixth wicket to lead the Chevrons to victory with 11 balls to spare. Brian Chari made 19 off 18 deliveries on his T20I debut.

After their not so polished display against Nepal on Friday, coach Lalchand Rajput will certainly look for an improved show from his players.

Singapore and Nepal met in the second match of the triangular series yesterday.

Zimbabwe clash with Nepal on Tuesday and then play their final match of the series on Thursday when they take on Singapore.

With Hamilton Masakadza having retired at the end of the triangular series in Bangladesh, Williams is captaining a fairly young Zimbabwean team in Singapore.
