MOST of us have heard of people that are called visionaries. In most cases we get to hear about these people when they are well archived, in business we have the likes of Warren Buffert, science and invention brought us Elon Mask, football gave us Sir Alex Ferguson, religion gave us church planters like Bishop Colin Nyathi and Bishop Ezekiel Guti.

One common thing about all these despite being in different fields is that they executed their vision. Vision is defined as the power of seeing or imagining. Looking ahead. Grasping the truth under lies.

A vision is different from a dream. A lot of people tend to confuse these two. A dream is defined as that which one sees during sleep, the region outside the laws of nature which one sees during sleep, or imagination. But when the dream is now a vision it has a clear plan on how it is to be achieved.

This means it must then have smaller goals to be attained which will in the end cumulate to the vision being reality. Goals are points marking the end of a race. This then means the sequence should be in this manner.
Dream — vision — goals

Everything around you was once a dream because the dream is the starting point of all things. Imagine the biggest mall you have ever been in, that was once just an imagination in someone’s head. But they developed it into a mission they wanted to see achieved, taking necessary steps in moving towards building it. They set goals to aim for in order to complete the building.

A vision aligns you with people of the same rank and ambitions as you. Instead of wasting time on a lot of people, a vision will attract those like you.

2 Kings 5:5

“By all means, go,” the king of Aram replied. “I will send a letter to the king of Israel.” So Naaman left, taking with him ten talents of silver, six thousand shekels of gold and ten sets of clothing.

You begin to notice people you are in competition with you, you begin to notice those that can assist you. Naaman wanted his leprosy cured, this was his vision, thus he connected with his king, who then connected him to the king of Israel.

His vision made it clear to him who he needed. Some call it positional awareness, meaning you will only notice how much detergents are sold in your city the day you decide to start selling detergent. It is also applicable negatively, you only notice how much police are in the city the day you decide to become a criminal. These help point out what you have been doing wrong.

Competition is not always bad, sometimes they are the push you need to do better than you have been doing. Your competition’s mistake also points out what you must avoid at all costs. A company going bankrupt should be a lesson to you and a reminder that you are not immune.

The homeless should not only bring out compassion in you, but also drive you to work harder.
Having a vision helps you recognise your capacity through others.
2 Kings 5:3
She said to her mistress, “If only my master would see the prophet who is in Samaria! He would cure him of his leprosy.

The king of Aram recognised that he had less capacity in the area of medicine because he had no one in his kingdom that could cure leprosy. This made it clear to him that he needed to outsource the skills to cure leprosy. When you choose to start a cattle ranching business you need to have a good knowledge of how cattle breeding is done and how the business functions.

If you don’t have this knowledge, then you will need someone that does or you are headed to sure disaster. Only a vision will bring this out because you will be forced to think of every little detail of the business.

A vision usually helps you see the need to know God. If it doesn’t highly likely the vision is too small. Because if the vision is large, it may scare you just thinking about doing it. In most cases God is your only source to continue to push hard even when everything and everyone is telling you to stop.

2 Kings 5:8
When Elisha the man of God heard that the king of Israel had torn his robes, he sent him this message: “Why have you torn your robes? Have the man come to me and he will know that there is a prophet in Israel.”

He wanted to teach them a lesson. So that he recognised that there was a prophet in Israel. The prophet there stands as a representation of God. In other words this scripture says, why you are getting angry and disheartened by what the vision is demanding of you, don’t you know that there is God. If you understand that God actually wants you to succeed, then you will learn to run to Him.

Regardless of the size of the project in question, there is nothing impossible with the Lord. Even in the case of nations, the idea situation is that governments must seek the mind of God in their policy making and governing.

This means that instead of the king of Israel being angry at the man coming with the need to be healed, the king was supposed to receive the man then search in his ministries which one could best assist the leper. If the church was part of his government, he would simply direct him to the church and let them deal with the problem.

So develop your dream into a vision, and the vision into goals. You will smile a few years from now to see just how far you would have come simply by pressing on with the vision.
Be blessed.
