A decision will on Wednesday be made on the venue of next month’s Kwese Sports Victoria Falls Sevens rugby tournament with two possible sites for the two-day event.

Victoria Falls Primary School and the Elephant Hills Driving Range are the two possible venues for the inaugural tournament to be held on 18 and 19 March. Nyararai Sibanda, the Zimbabwe Rugby Union said all the stakeholders will converge on the resort town on Wednesday to decide on the venue.

Sibanda could not be drawn to state how much is Kwese Sports putting into the tournament, save for that the initial deal is for five years.

The ZRU boss also indicated that they were still looking for other partners to support the event financially and in other ways.

“We will decide on Wednesday on the venue of the Kwese Victoria Falls Sevens, we will convene to make a decision. Elephant Hills Driving Range and Victoria Falls Primary School are the proposed venues.

“The initial agreement is a five-year contract, we are still in negotiations. We are also looking for other partners to assist us financially or materially,’’ said Sibanda.

Neighbouring countries such as South Africa, Zambia, Botswana, Namibia as well the East African duo of Kenya and Uganda are expected to participate in the Victoria Falls Sevens.

The tournament presents Cheetahs coach Gilbert Nyamutsamba with an opportunity to identify players for the Africa Cup, to be staged in November which serves as a qualifier for next year’s Sevens Rugby World Cup in the United States of America.
