A DOCTOR based at Mpilo Cetral Hospital in Bulawayo thought he could take his physical examination skills to the newly-opened Private Lounge when he allgedly tried to fondle a stripper but was thoroughly beaten up by the club’s bouncer. This came to light when the bouncer Jackson Mwanza, appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Mrs Sithembiso Ncube facing two counts of assault. He was remanded out of custody to 10 August for trial.
According to the prosecutor, Mr Kudakwashe Jaravaza, on 16 June, at about 2am Nelson Zvaita, the doctor was having drinks at the nightclub. He then decided to use the toilet.
“On his way he bumped into the bouncer who slapped him several times before pushing him to the ground resulting in him sustaining serious body injuries as indicated by medical reports,” said Mr Jaravaza.
In response Mwanza accused Zvaita of not being able to contain himself after watching some strippers on stage.
“The complainant was beaten because he was fondling a stripper as he was failing to control his hormonal excitement, I told him that it was not allowed but he resisted, I was simply doing my job,” explained Mwanza.
It also emerged that on the same night, Mwanza allegedly beat up a policeman Tadzorerwa Mufarewechisi, who is based at Mpilo Central Hospital’s police post, accusing him of dozing off in the club.
Mufarewechisi told the court that Mwanza initially told him to leave the club because he was dozing off.
“When I told him that I intended to first finish my beer, Mwanza went on to attack me with open hands and fists until I fell to the ground,” said Mufarewechisi.
However, in defence, Mwanza accused the two of trying to fix him by fabricating the medical reports since they both work at the hospital.
“In this case the medical reports are from Mpilo where they work, I have no doubt that they were forged as both complainants work at the same place. It is of no doubt that they are conniving to fix me,” said Mwanza.
The doctor, Zvaita denied fabricating the medical reports saying he was badly injured as the bouncer intentionally pushed him and he fell from the stairs.
“The bouncer is lying that I was touching the naked dancer. I was on my way to the toilet when I met the stripper,” he said.
