DYNAMOS midfielder King Nasama’s aunt was feared dead last night as the Glamour Boys honoured their departed fans with a come from behind win at Ascot Stadium in Gweru yesterday. Ironically Nasama scored what turned out to be the winner after Masimba Mambare had cancelled out Hillary Mugoniwa’s opener. DeMbare officials revealed thatNasama’s aunt called him early yesterday morning informing the player that she would travel to Gweru with a pair of football boots he forgot at home.

After hearing of the accident, which is believed to have claimed seven DeMbare fans, just before kickoff Nasama became worried and asked Dynamos officials to call his aunt. “We have been trying to call her but her phone has not been reachable. At the moment we don’t want to speculate because there are conflicting statements coming our way so we will just wait for the police,” a Dynamos official said last night.

DeMbare coach Lloyd Mutasa broke down soon after the final whistle and dedicated DeMbare’s second win of the season to the departed fans. “It’s disheartening to lose supporters who were on their way to rally behind us, words cannot explain how we are feeling at the moment.

At a time when the team is not doing so well we need our supporters to stand by us and these late fans appreciated that hence their decision to travel for this away game. I am consoled by the fact that we managed to honour the fans by posting this win over Chapungu. It wasn’t an easy game but we had to dig deep and get this result.”

Chapungu made life difficult for Dynamos from the sound of the kick-off whistle.

With Tatenda Mukuruva and central defender Elisha Muroiwa away on Warriors duty Mutasa handed starts to Tonderai Mateyaunga and Augustine Mbara. Mateyaunga, who has struggled for game time since moving from ZPC Kariba at the beginning of last season, handed Chapungu their opener after failing to deal with a harmless looking cross on nine minutes.

With the second choice DeMbare goalie completely missing the ball Mugoniwa ghosted in to nod the home side into the lead. But Dynamos were not trailing for long as nine minutes later Mambare, who had a good game, pulled them level after heading home a well weighted free kick from Godknows Murwira.

And two minutes later the Glamour Boys took the lead, Nasama beating Talbert Shumba after getting to an end of an Ocean Mushure cross. Nasama celebrated his debut goal by sprinting to hug Mutasa before capping it all by planting a kiss on his gaffer’s right shoe.
